Performing Arts in STEMpower Through Art
Performing Arts is a key creative element of the STEMpower Through Art project, giving young participants the opportunity to express themselves through movement, drama, rhythm and storytelling. These activities help young people explore emotions, build confidence and connect with others in a fun and supportive environment.
What We Do in Our Performing Arts Workshops
In our performing arts sessions, participants:
take part in simple drama games and creative movement
explore rhythm, expressive gestures and role-play
practice storytelling through voice, body and imagination
collaborate in small group performances
create short expressive moments inspired by STEM or everyday themes
Workshops are playful, interactive and designed to help young people feel comfortable expressing themselves freely.
Inclusive and Accessible Approach
To ensure that all young participants can engage safely and confidently, our performing arts workshops include:
clear routines and predictable structures
visual cues and demonstrations
step-by-step guidance for each activity
opportunities for different levels of participation
supportive mentors who help reduce anxiety and encourage expression
This approach is especially helpful for young people with diverse learning profiles, making performing arts an open and enjoyable space for everyone.
Skills Developed Through Performing Arts
Through performing arts, participants develop:
confidence and self-expression
communication and social interaction skills
emotional awareness and creativity
teamwork and cooperation
